Toronto to experience below-seasonal temperatures on Friday, June 13 and Saturday
Though meteorological summer has already begun and astronomical summer is less than two weeks away, Toronto is in for a sharp and unexpected temperature drop this week — one that will make it colder than several cities located above the Arctic Circle.
Friday, June 13 will be the standout day of this cold snap. The forecasted high is only 17 °C (62.6 °F), which will likely feel even cooler due to brisk northeasterly winds. This marks a stark contrast to the 26 °C (78.8 °F) high expected on Wednesday, June 11, with a humidex reaching 30 °C (86 °F).
Toronto colder than Inuvik, Old Crow, Brønnøysund and Boden
This thermal drop is significant enough that Toronto will be colder than Arctic locations such as Inuvik and Old Crow in the Northwest Territories and Yukon, as well as Boden in Sweden and Brønnøysund in Norway — all situated north of the Arctic Circle. On June 13, Inuvik and Old Crow are expected to hit 22 °C (71.6 °F), while Boden and Brønnøysund will see highs around 18 °C (64.4 °F).
Saturday, June 14: clouds and rain to follow in Toronto
According to The Weather Network, this cool spell will extend into Saturday, June 14, with cloudy skies and a chance of rainfall, making for a grey and damp day. Temperatures will remain well below the seasonal average, which is 23 °C (73.4 °F) for Toronto in mid-June.
A classic early summer weather flip-flop — and a reminder that in Toronto, stability in the skies remains elusive.
